NEW YORK — The Department of Justice has secured an indictment against the Southern Poverty Law Center. The following statement from Pregnancy Justice President Lourdes A. Rivera is in response to that indictment:

“The Trump administration’s baseless attack against the Southern Poverty Law Center is just his latest weaponization of the government, diverting resources to enact a harmful agenda. SPLC has fought racial terror for half a century and fought alongside Pregnancy Justice on behalf of pregnant people facing harm in Alabama prisons. We stand with the SPLC to end policies and practices rooted in systemic racism, oppression, and the criminalization of poverty. We stand for all those left adrift in the gap between the promise of democracy and the administration’s work to actively dismantle democracy, and we’re not going anywhere. An attack against the SPLC is an attack against us all.”
